Zong began operations in 1991 as Paktel telecom by Cable & Wireless. It was the first company to be granted a license to offer cellular phone services in Pakistan. It was responsible for AMPS services from 2003 to 2004 when it launched GSM services. Millicom Corporation purchased Paktel from Cable & Wireless in 2003. Millicom International Cellular S.A. wanted to sell its Paktel Limited stake to China Mobile in January 2007. Paktel was not compensated for the sale.

Zong Postpaid Packages for 4G Internet
Zong is looking at its postpaid customers to give them Internet bundles that meet their needs. Postpaid users have a 30-day billing cycle; thus, they can only get a 30-day bundle.
