The National League West was a surprise last season. Two teams won over 100 games. The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers both did and made it to the MLB Playoffs. San Francisco and Los Angeles both met in the National League Divisional Series and the Dodgers got the best of the Giants in five games.

Los Angeles then lost to the Atlanta Braves in six games in the NLCS after winning the World Series the previous season. The MLB odds for the Los Angeles Dodgers to win it all this season are very good. Who will finish where in the National League West Standings?

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

Should the Los Angeles Dodgers potentially winning the National League West division this year once again come as a surprise to anyone? Los Angeles might have the most loaded lineup from top to bottom in all of baseball. Manager Dave Roberts is basically guaranteeing a 2022 World Series Title for this baseball team this season, which is ludicrous.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have Freddie Freeman (left the Atlanta Braves via free agency for a six-year deal), Trea Turner, Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner, Will Smith, Gavin Lux, and Max Muncy as key players in their lineup. They will be tough to pitch to on a game-to-game basis. Los Angeles also has a very good starting rotation with Walker Buehler, Julio Urias, and Clayton Kershaw.

They lost Max Scherzer, Corey Seager, and a couple of others via free agency in the offseason but it doesn’t matter because they always reload and are the MLBs model organization these days in how to run a business.

Their closer will be Kenley Jansen, but they just traded for closer/setup man Craig Kimbrel from the Chicago White Sox for outfielder A.J. Pollock. The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best team in the MLB and no one can convince you otherwise.

2. San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres have a ton of talent on this roster this year. San Diego made it to the playoffs in 2020, but they completely fell off a cliff in 2021 and it came as a major surprise. The Padres manager is Bob Melvin. He was the recent manager for the Oakland Athletics and will be a big help for this ball club.

With him at the helm, they should win over 90 games this year and be a playoff team in the National League. San Diego will more likely be a wild card team in the National League. The San Diego Padres might win 95 games this year, but they might be 12 GB because the Los Angeles Dodgers might win 107 games this year.

Manny Machado, Wil Myers, Eric Hosmer, and others are part of a completely loaded lineup as well. They are very deep in the starting rotation, with some question marks in the bullpen. Blake Snell and Mike Clevinger will be the top guys. Don’t forget about Chris Paddack and they also just traded for Sean Manena from the Oakland Athletics.

If they miss the playoffs this year, it is going to be another organizational failure for them. The San Diego Padres have just made it to the playoffs once since 2006 and have a World Series roster.

3. San Francisco Giants

The San Francisco Giants will most likely take a monster step backward this year after overachieving last season. Gabe Kapler is the teams’ manager. San Francisco no longer has catcher Buster Posey as its leader and it will probably be first baseman Brandon Belt.

Outfielder Mike Yastrzemski will be reliable once again this year for the Giants. The starting rotation of Logan Webb and Alex Wood will be solid to great, but will they get others to help out, and will the offense score enough runs? The bullpen was very good for them last year as well.

4. Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies manager is Bud Black. Colorado will be very good at hitting the baseball this season. The Rockies just signed third baseman Kris Bryant to a big contract that is for seven years worth $182 million.

Outfielder Charlie Blackmon is still around, but they still have no pitching and will get rocked. Jhoulys Chacin and German Marquez will be their top two rotation guys, but is that really good enough for them along with a shaky bullpen here as well?

5. Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks will be going through a rebuild for the next couple of seasons. Arizona is going to be in for one long hot summer and no it won’t be a very good one either.

Their manager is Torey Lovullo. Ketel Marte is their best hitter by far on this baseball team and Luke Weaver might be their best pitcher. The Diamondbacks’ pitching got smacked around last year and will again this year.
