Know How to Workout 

Once you know what you want to achieve over the year, you need to know what action to apply to that. For example, if you want to lose weight, then lifting weights isn’t the most effective way to do this. Look at your goal and then try and do some research on the best way to attain it. Then, you are going to want to use your personal preference to make it as enjoyable as possible. For example, cardio is the best way to lose weight, but you might prefer swimming to running. 

Pacing Yourself 

When people set goals at the start of the year, there is a good chance that they go hard for the first few weeks, and then burn themselves out. Therefore, you need to pace yourself. Something that people will do to prevent this is to pick up another hobby with working out to balance with one another.
